How to purify water without using chemicals

Water is a pure necessity and drinking impure and unclean water is something we cannot really afford. Do you really think purifying water by using chemicals actually purifies it? The inclusion of chemicals by any means can lead to harmful outcomes in one way or the other. There are many ways to purify water. Processes such as filtration and chlorination are some of the well-known processes to purify water. However, they are chemical-induced methods.

So, in this article, we will explain to you some natural ways on how to purify water without using chemicals. Read on to know about different types of water purification methods that are natural and promising.

  • Boiling the water – This method is undoubtedly one the most used and certainly the easiest of all the methods to purify water. Even if you do not have any other equipment at your place to purify water, this method always stays the best. Go on and boil the water for at least 5 minutes. This way all the bacteria present in the water will be destroyed. Adding to this, the water then becomes pure to drink. Here’s a thing, while you boil water, many impurities and chemicals tend to evaporate. Just boil the water and let it sit for 5 more minutes and then go ahead and drink. Moreover, this is the cheapest and, indeed, the safest way to say goodbye to all those impurities.
  • Use winnowing sieve – Firstly, this method is used in order to remove the unwanted particles and grains from water, such as, dry leaves, hay straws, dirt and silt, charcoal particles, and other such substances which get into the water through the wind. Under this method, the water moves through the sieve and all such particles are left behind, that is, on the other side of the sieve. However, this process just removes noticeable impurities.
  • Sun rays to kill impurities – Not many may be aware of the fact that sunlight is one of the purest and natural ways of purifying water. Put a jug of clean water under the sun for 5 to 6 hours. The natural heat of the sun will destroy the bacteria, viruses, or any sort of pathogens present in the water. In ancient times, this technique was usually used to kill all the unwanted impurities present in the water.
  • Clay pots for water – It is a well-known fact that the water which is being kept in a clay pot is inevitably cleaner and somehow, good for health too. Clay pots can trap protozoa, bacteria, and other such impurities. One can use the pots at his home as this is such a manageable and effortless way to purify drinking water to some extent. So, get yourself a clay pot and drink bacteria-free water at home. Just keep a thing in mind, once you fill in the pot with water, let it stay like that for about 2 hours. This way, the clay pot will entrap the unwanted materials and you will be good to go.
  • Pine tree treatment – Well, this may sound unusual to many out there, but, a pine tree is something to rely on when thinking about purifying water in a natural and chemical-free way. Just pull out a small branch from the tree and peel off the bark from the stick. Place the stick in a container and slowly pour the water into the container. As and when the water is being poured, the sap in the stick will perform its part and trap the contaminants from the water.

So, these are some of the natural ways through which you can purify water. Some of these processes may take longer hours to remove the impurities, nevertheless, the methods are completely safe and of course, simple.

Clean water intake is a vital aspect. There are a number of water-borne diseases that can occur due to the intake of contaminated water. Purified water with chemical treatments is, again, not a smart move. There are better ways of purifying water in a more natural and healthy way.

Well, all of the mentioned ways can be easily helpful to purify water at home. Bring the water to the boil and more than half of your work is done.

So, follow some of these ways and do not compromise when it comes to the consumption of safe water.
